CALL FOR ENTRIES: AESTHETICA CREATIVE WORKS COMPETITION


The 2011 Aesthetica Creative Works Competition is now open for entries! Aesthetica Magazine is inviting all artists, photographers, writers and poets to submit their work into the Creative Works Competition, Now in its fourth year, the competition is dedicated to celebrating and championing creative talent across the disciplines and welcomes entries from poets and writers as well as artists working in any medium, including sculpture, textiles, photography, ceramics, paint, digital art and more!

  • The Competition has three categories, Artwork & Photography, Poetry and Fiction.
  • Winners and finalists are published in the Aesthetica Creative Works Annual.
  • Winners of each category receive £500 prize money plus other prizes.
  • Entry to the Creative Works Competition is £10.

"Art Connections V" call for entries



A Call for Artists


The George Segal Gallery presents "Art Connections 5" and invites artists to display their work
Montclair State University’s George Segal Gallery is once again sponsoring Art Connections, its annual fund-raising art exhibit, from January 15 to February 15, 2009, and invites artists to submit works for display and sale. Now in its fifth year, Art Connections has grown from a regional exhibit to one of national scope and offers artists an excellent opportunity for exposure and sales of their works.
Past Art Connections exhibits have featured works by noted artists such as ceramist Toshiko Takaeshu; painters Julie Hefferman, Bisa Washington, Ben Jones and Cora Cohen; and sculptor Willie Cole. Proceeds from the event support exhibitions at the George Segal Gallery and care of the University’s permanent collection.
The deadline for submissions is September 16, 2008 and an online brochure with full information about the event as well as entry procedures and requirements is available here.

Completely devoid of technical skill (Colour, tone, perspective and shading)
Unusual, poor or tasteless subject matters (Preferably all three!)

That ‘special’ feeling that forms in your gut



Itchiball Prize
A further extension of The MOPBA was the establishment of the “Itchiball Prize”, where the general public submitted pieces of Art, either their own or found works, in an attempt to claim this ‘prestigious’ prize.

Entries are being called for this year's Itchiball Prize.
The Itchiball Prize winner will receive vouchers to the value of a total of $2,000.00(including GST) to be spent on products and services in the Chapel Street Windsor Retail Precinct.
ThePeople’s Choice Award winner will receive vouchers to the value of $1000.00

PRIZE:The Itchiball Prize winner will receive vouchers to the value of a total of $2,000.00 (including GST) to be spent on products and services in the Chapel Street Windsor Retail Precinct. The People’s Choice Award winner will receive vouchers to the value of $1000.00This is an acquisitive prize, ie if you win the Itchiball or People’s Choice Award, your work will not be returned to you and will take its place as a permanent part of the MOPBA’s collection.

JUDGES:A panel of local personalities, local dignitaries and residents will select the Itchiball Award winning entries. The MOPBA Committee has selected the independent judges and their decision will be final.

This year the event is returning to the exhibition space at Chapel off Chapel 12 Little Chapel Street Prahran from the 3rd to 12th of October.
The opening night will be Friday 3rd October 6pm till 8pm

Bridge Art Fair Miami 2008 Juried Competition

The top-3 winners of the competition will have their work represented at Bridge Art Fair Miami Beach, taking place concurrent with the spectacular Art Basel Miami Beach, December 4-7, 2008. The deadline for registration and submission is November 15, 2008.
In order to enter the competition, artists must be a member of myartspace.com. Membership is free, and members can upload an unlimited amount of fine art, audio, video and audio narration and create a highly contemporary art viewing experience. Registration for the Myartspace/Bridge Art Fair Miami 2008 competition is $50, but will be reduced by 50% to $25 before October 31, 2008. The winners will be announced on November 25, 2008.

Portia Geach Memorial Award
Celebrating female Australian artists

The Portia Geach Memorial Award is a celebration of female Australian artists. It’s Australia’s most prestigious portrait prize for female artists and has greatly contributed to the development of female artists in this country.
It was established by Florence Kate Geach in 1961 in memory of her sister, Portia Geach and is awarded each year to the best portrait painted from life of some man or woman distinguished in Art, Letters or the Sciences.
Are you eligible?
To be eligible for this award, you must be a female Australian resident who is either Australian born, British born or a naturalised Australian.

The award’s value
The recipient of the 2008 Portia Geach Memorial Award will receive $18,000.

Close of entries for the 2008 Award is 29 August 2008.
